Evening Barbecues where the guitars inevitably make an appearance for all those ging gang gooly cherished memories, ! But a word of warning, the local 'hooch' rakia has several side effects, firstly you lose the use of your legs and any dancing is akin to Elvis, secondly, you lose the power to speak English, and thirdly, you speak Bulgarian fluently instantly !
Wander the many tracks that join every village and field, there are no restrictions on where you can and can't go, it seems that 'the right to roam' must have been invented in Bulgaria !
Some of the beautiful and more unusual sights you will see if you visit the country will include...... fields of sunflowers as far as the eye can see...... warm golden fields of grain peppered with poppies, peace and quiet with little traffic. The preferred modes of transport in these parts are either Donkey and Cart or for the wealthy a lada or trabant.. The locals ,( with their friendly waves) go about there everyday business as they always have, Geese, chickens and turkeys wander about, it really doesn't get more 'Free Range' than this . Every year we get migrating storks which nest on the lamp posts. Woodpeckers, and nightingales that sing there heads off during the day too., are a regular soundtrack to most days. Balmy evenings are accompanied by the soothing sound of crickets and the mating calls of the frogs in the local streams and lakes.
Once visited, Bulgarias' sights, sounds and smells, and it's friendly people, get to you. With me it left a lasting impression which I hope you will take away too, and I hope your memories in this beautiful country will also last you a lifetime.
If you want to experience a country where time has stood still, and life is still at a normal liesurely pace come to Bulgaria and get in touch today..
FOR AN IDEA OF THE TYPES OF LOCATIONS THAT YOU MAY BE PAINTING DURING YOUR HOLIDAY PLEASE SEE THE HOLIDAY PROGRAM PAGE.
And we provide it ... Simple !
I always ensure that everyone gets personal attention in my Art Groups. Tuition is usually split in sessions of about 2-3 hours. With regular stops in between , usually involving food and drink ! We paint around the main heat of the day when the light is also at it's best so that means mornings and late afternoons leaviing the day for relaxing and maybe having a siesta. Evenings can be spent chatting and looking at each others work from the days painting, over a cold beer or a glass of the local wine.
